Six Civic Leaders Elected to Cleveland Institute of Music Board of Trustees, Bringing Expertise, Vision, and Community Leadership

July 21, 2026 — The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) has elected six accomplished leaders to its Board of Trustees, further strengthening the institution's commitment to providing transformative educational opportunities for the next generation of musicians. Elected unanimously on July 7, the new trustees bring expertise spanning business, law, medicine, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and community leadership. 

Joining the Board are Stathis Antoniades, Karl Beus, Dr. Michael Frank, Dr. Ronald Krasney, Beverly J. Schneider, and Philip Volpe. Their collective experience and dedication to excellence will help guide CIM as it advances its mission to empower the world's most talented classical music students to fulfill their dreams and potential.

"Each brings distinguished professional accomplishments, deep leadership experience, and a meaningful connection to the arts. Their expertise will help ensure CIM continues to provide an extraordinary educational experience while advancing our vision for the future." 

The trustees were elected with the support of Dr. Susan A. Rothmann, Chair, CIM Board of Trustees. With these appointments, CIM's Board of Trustees now consists of 31 members, in addition to Trustees Emeriti, Life Trustees, and its esteemed International Council.

Hogle. "These new trustees bring perspectives that will help CIM remain at the forefront of conservatory education while preparing the next generation of musicians to thrive in musical careers." 

Stathis Antoniades, MPH, FABC, is the President of University Hospitals (UH) Cleveland Medical Center, a position he has held since May 2022. A seasoned healthcare executive, he leads the flagship quaternary care academic medical center for UH, overseeing comprehensive medical services and national reputation for quality and safety.  He brings a breadth of experience and leadership in the overall and service line operations within a large academic medical center.  Prior to UH, he served as COO at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (Burlington, MA). He spent 14 years at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he started his career in finance and served in numerous leadership roles in large clinical departments.  Degrees include a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Yale and a B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology from Boston University.  

Karl Beus is a leading partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold, specializing in commercial business and financial law. He received his B.A. in English and German from the University of Utah and went on to the University of Idaho College of Law for his J.D. In 2020, he was named Finance Law ”Lawyer of the Year” in Cleveland by The Best Lawyers in America. He works with Fortune 500 companies, commercial and investment banks, among others, along with corporate clients negotiating commercial transactions such as domestic and international supply and distribution, contracts, and agreements. He also assists corporate borrowers in capital planning and in optimizing domestic and international cash and treasury management systems. 

Michael Frank, MD, JD, is a retired emergency physician and attorney who has long been an active supporter of the arts. Michael chairs the board of the Cleveland Ballet and serves on the boards of The Cleveland Orchestra, Piano Cleveland, & Music from the Western Reserve. He also supports area arts institutions like The Cleveland Museum of Art, Les Delices, CityMusic Cleveland, Playhouse Square, and the Great Lakes Theatre Festival. Professionally, Michael practiced emergency medicine for over 30 years during which time he chaired the board of Barberton Citizens Hospital for 16 years. With over 25 years of practicing law, Michael served as General Counsel for Emergency Medicine Physicians for 20 years. 

Dr. Ronald H. Krasney is an Ophthalmologist in Lyndhurst and is affiliated with both University Hospitals and The Cleveland Clinic. He has remained in private practice for over 40 years. His undergraduate degree from Yale in Economics with a minor in Music. His medical degree is from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Ron continues to play the violin and was a member of the Yale Symphony Orchestra, World Doctors Orchestra, and other Cleveland ensembles. He is an active supporter of several institutions besides The Cleveland Institute of Music, including The Cleveland Museum of Art, Piano Cleveland, and The Cleveland Orchestra, where he endowed a chair. 

Beverly J. Schneider, Associate General Counsel, Healthcare for STERIS, supports the company’s Global Services Organization. Fifteen years at STERIS, Ms. Schneider began her legal career as an associate at Thompson Hine LLP. She graduated from the University of Michigan summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance and earned her Juris Doctorate from The University of Michigan Law School. Ms. Schneider serves on the Board of Trustees of The Cleveland Orchestra and chairs the Orchestra’s Advisory Council. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Cleveland for eleven years. 

Philip Volpe is a financial advisor, recently joining J.P. Morgan Private Bank as a Vice President and Banker, Cleveland office. Throughout his nearly eight years in the financial industry, Phil has built a foundation in the challenges and opportunities accompanying significant wealth. He works closely with business owners, financial professionals, and other ambitious wealth creators, including attorneys and doctors throughout the area. Before moving to Cleveland, Philip worked in Pittsburgh, where he served as chair of the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society.
