CIM Student Government Association Presents Concert to Benefit Greater Cleveland Food Bank
CIM's Student Government Association (SGA) will present a benefit concert on Tuesday, February 18, at 8pm at the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland, 3630 Fairmount Boulevard, Shaker Heights. This concert will feature CIM faculty – among them Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson and Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler – alumna and faculty member Jeanelle Brierley and CIM students. Several of the CIM faculty performing also are members of The Cleveland Orchestra, including Mary Kay Fink, Frank Rosenwein, Afendi Yusuf, Barrick Stees and Richard King.
The concert includes performances of Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, Mendelssohn’s Octet and Saint-Saëns’ Havanaise.
CIM’s Student Government Association is proud to present this concert for the third year in a row in which they partner with Boston-based and internationally renowned violist and teacher Kim Kashkashian’s Music for Food organization, says SGA President Rachel Lauson (horn, King). All proceeds benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Through this concert, SGA aims to diminish the problem of hunger in Greater Cleveland.
No ticket purchase is required, as admission is by optional monetary or food donation. Food donations should be canned or dry goods and monetary donations can be in the form of cash or checks made out to Music for Food.
“SGA is incredibly thrilled to bring students and faculty together to make beautiful music and support a wonderful cause,” said Lauson, who also will perform in the concert.
