The classic fairy tale of Cinderella comes to life in one of Massenet’s most charming scores. Based on Charles Perrault’s version of the story, Cendrillon explores the richness of human emotions, from regret and jealousy to hope and love. The usual cast of characters comes to life, from the stepmother and her mean daughters, to the fairy and her sprites, the prince, and even Cendrillon’s father. The score masterfully alternates between humor and poignant lyricism to create a touching telling of the well-known story.
