When you study saxophone at CIM, you will be challenged to become a preeminent performer and thought leader in the field of classical music. Intensive private lessons with saxophone department head Steven Banks will be wide in scope, encouraging students to hone their interpretive abilities and build the facility to communicate their intentions effectively with the saxophone. Through in-depth study of repertoire from early music to brand-new, you will reach a professional level of performance as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble performer.

You can expect to have regular opportunities to perform with CIM’s New Music Ensemble, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. You will also have the opportunity to work regularly with visiting artists Valentin Kovalev and Julian Velasco in lessons, master classes, and entrepreneurship sessions.
